Description

The Mountfield S421 PD Lawn Mower has the same great features as the S421 HP with the addition of power driven rear wheels. This takes away the effort of pushing the mower; simply pull up the clutch lever and away you go. Release the lever and the wheels stop – it couldn’t be easier. Power driven mowers have become very popular over the last few years and we now sell more of them than hand propelled models.

Powered by a Mountfield ST140 139cc engine with DSC transmission and with a 41cm/16″ cutting width, the Mountfield S421 PD is a 4-in-1 mower is extremely versatile and allows you to collect the grass clippings in the 60 litre grass collector or you can choose to mulch, rear or side discharge the cut grass depending on your needs. Mulching the grass can save time, money and effort; when the mulching plug is fitted the finely cut grass clippings are deposited back onto the ground as a nitrogen-rich mulch which is recycled back into the lawn as a natural fertiliser. As no grass cuttings are collected there is no need to stop to empty the grass collector, saving you around 30{d09b12be51a7a6a48787a7bc3312473190ccc1fdbfe07795db7f7cb91fdca1cd} of the usual time taken to cut your

Height of cut can easily be adjusted with a single lever through 6 pre-set cutting positions from 22mm to 65mm, and cleaning after use is facilitated using a hose connection fitted to the chassis. This great little mower is a joy to use and extremely economical to run.  With a robust steel chassis powder coated in ‘Mountfield red’, it will give you many years of service and have small to medium sized lawns 30m x 30m looking neat and tidy in no time.

Please use a fuel stabiliser or Aspen fuel with your lawn mower.

WHAT DOES FUEL STABILISER DO?

FUEL STABILISER
Mountfield Universal Fuel Stabiliser contains a carefully balanced formulation based on light hydrocarbon fractions and components specially selected for their performance enhancing properties:

  • Prevents the degradation of fuel – fuel stays fresh for up to 2 years.
  • Protects the fuel against oxidation.Prevents gum and varnish build up.
  • Protects the engine and fuel system parts against rust and corrosion.

WHY DO I NEED TO USE FUEL STABILISER?
Modern petrol now typically contains 5% ethanol. Ethanol readily bonds with atmospheric moisture creating an ethanol-water mix and this oxidisation creates what is known as stale fuel.
As fuel oxidises it can turn to gum and clog jets and other openings in the fuel system. Gummed up carburettors cause serious problems in power equipment such as lawn mowers that see intermittent use or have long periods of storage.

Ethanol blended fuel is also a corrosive substance that can cause the gradual destruction of the metal used in the fuel systems of outdoor power equipment (particularly soft metals such as brass and aluminium). Ethanol also absorbs water, drawing it into the fuel mixture. Water is highly corrosive and when ethanol and water combine it can cause performance problems and fuel system damage.
Good quality fuel stored in an airtight container should stay stable, not oxidise and stay fresh. However the typical fuel tank of a lawn mower isn’t ideal for storing fuel. It isn’t 100% airtight, so fuel will oxidise in the tank, and over time (as little as 30 days) will go stale.
